Executive Director's Message
Tamara "Tammy" Burton
To those of us involved in the day to day
fight to end child abuse, two recent
publications painted a grim picture about
the work that remains ahead of us: The
We Can Do
Better report by the Every Child
Matters Education Fund and a new exposure to
violence study in the
OJJDP bulletin.
Please take a few minutes to examine these
reports for yourself. As we move forward in
our efforts to ensure that children are
being cared for and protected by their
caregivers we will be asking you, our
network of champions, for assistance in
advocating for projects that benefit our
children.
This holiday season, I will be finalizing
our program goals for the coming year. In
drafting our plan forward, I am constantly
reminded of the enormous generosity of our
many partners and the variety of ways that
you have supported our mission.
I would also like to encourage you to see
the movie
"Precious."
While a fictional story, the highly
publicized movie is a perfect reminder of
the challenges that our children face if
they do not receive the appropriate care at
the appropriate time by the appropriate
people.
Again, we cannot thank you enough for your
support of Santa Rosa Kids' House. Please
take a moment to visit our new Web site at
www.SRKidsHouse.org (please note
the new address). If I can ever be of any
assistance to you please don't hesitate to
call me at 623.1112 or
email
me.
